NEW Recipe Using Price Chopper Savings

I love when the main ingredients in my favorite recipes go on sale. Price Chopper has boneless, skinless chicken breasts on sale again this week for $1.99/lb. The 12oz. packages of button mushrooms are also on sale this week 2/$4. And to top it all off, Philadelphia Cream Cheese and Campbell's condensed soups are also on sale, which means that I can make a very easy crock pot dinner for a very inexpensive price!

Creamy Chive Chicken
Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:
  • 6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves (1.75 pounds)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 0.7-ounce package dry Italian salad dressing mix
  • 1 10.75-ounce condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 dry white wine
  • 1 8-ounce tub cream cheese with chives and onions
  • 1 12-ounce package fresh button mushrooms (you can substitute canned mushrooms if you prefer)
  • Hot Cooked Pasta
Instructions:
  1. Place chicken in a 4-quart or larger slow cooker. Add butter, Italian salad dressing mix, cream of mushroom soup, dry white wine, cream cheese, and button mushrooms on top of the chicken.
  2. Cover and cook on the low-heat setting for 4 - 6 hours.
  3. Once cooking is complete, stir the mixture, the chicken should fall apart when poked with a fork. If desired, serve over hot cooked pasta and sprinkle fresh chives and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
This is my honey's favorite dinner by far and my daughter also gobbles it up. I love this recipe because if we have company over on a weeknight, it looks like I went through a ton of trouble when really I just threw things in the slow cooker and let it do all the work!

Let me break out the cost of this meal using the Price Chopper savings this week (the items in red are on sale at Price Chopper this week):
  • Chicken Breasts, $1.99/lb - need 1.75 lbs = $3.48
  • Butter - Land O' Lakes is on sale for $2.99 - need 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) = $0.38
  • Dry Italian Salad dressing mix - usually sell in 4-packs for $3.99 = $1
  • Campbell's condensed cream of mushroom soup, 10/$10 = $1
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine, usually $3.99 for 15 or 16 ounces = $1
  • 8-ounce tub Philadelphia chive and onion cream cheese = $2
  • Button Mushrooms, 2/$4 = $2
  • Price Chopper Linguine Pasta = $1
Total for 6 servings = $11.86
Total per serving = $1.98
